Aunt Katie is Brett's Great aunt (Gpa Peeler's Sister) She passed away today, January 31, 2010 peacefully in her home. We have great memories of our sweet aunt. She was like a Grandma. She has a special place in Brett's heart, as she was his
2nd (yep you read right!) 2nd Kindergarten teacher. Aunt Katie worked hard with Brett that summer and whipped him to shape so he could continue on with his age group in school. She was truly like Laura Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie School teacher. She was sent to some remote little school house and taught school. She retired teaching school, but she never retired from teaching her family.
Our family enjoyed using her house as a pitstop in traveling. They fed our kids tons of food (Like Thanksgiving!!) not to mention the candy that was given. Of course, they kept very busy making quilts, big thick, warm and beautiful quilts. The best memory I believe that our family has is the stories that she would tell us of her childhood.
She will be truly missed here on earth, but we are blessed to have the gospel and knowing that we have the opportunity to be together again! Her health was such that she was in constant pain, so we are thankful that she is freed from that pain. We are so thankful that Aunt Katie has touched our lives for Good!!!!
